Mid-City detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying three suspects who robbed a jewelry store at gunpoint on the morning of Sunday, Oct. 3.

According to investigators, a man with a gun entered an Alibris Jewelry store on West Second Street at 11 a.m. the day before last and threatened to take a gun from a clerk. Alibris was robbed of six pieces of jewelry, a wrist watch, a shoulder purse and a pair of sunglasses, as well as a black handbag.

Detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying three men they refer to as “masked bandits” — one of them with a distinctive scar on his face.

The man walked into the Alibi Jewelers at the West Second and F streets on Monday wearing a red knit cap, a gray hoodie with a hood pulled up, sunglasses and a white mask, police said. He ordered a clerk to empty the shelves, and then took six pieces of jewelry, the watch, the handbag and the sunglasses.

The man also took a black bag, which he dropped on the floor of the jewelry store, police said.

The man then left, walked to the corner of the building and waited for about 40 minutes before returning to the shop.

That man was then able to identify himself as one of the robbers, according to police.

Detectives said they believe three men entered the store at 11:20 a.m. on Oct. 1 and one took the watches and jewelry, but left the jewelry bag on the floor, which was later given to officers.
