World Series: Framber Valdez and Astros Even Series With Game 2 Win
Game 2 of the World Series was a tight fought battle between the Houston Astros and St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night.
The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the top half of the second and a 2-1 lead in the top half of the third. After the Astros scored a run in the top of the fourth, the Cardinals scored one run in the top of the fifth to take a 4-2 lead at the midpoint of the game.
After the Astros rallied back in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at 4-4, the Astros put together a five-run sixth, highlighted by Matt Chapman’s two-run home run off of Jonathan Papelbon, the fifth run of the inning.
The Cardinals got on the board in the top of the seventh with a run on a ground-rule double by shortstop Jordy Mercer and a single by Adam Wainwright to close out the scoring for the Cardinals, 8-4.
I like the Astros, but I don’t think they were the aggressors on Monday night. The Astros made a few mistakes in the way they attacked the Cardinals. The Astros would be better if they didn’t make as many mistakes. The Astros’ offense needs someone to do something special, but they won the game, so I’m not sure what I would have done.
I think the Astros need to be aggressive in the playoffs. They played better than most during the regular season. The Astros need to find some offense. If they can do that, they will be a darkhorse in the playoffs. I think if they don’t score, the Astros can win more games than the Cardinals.
I agree with this. Houston needs to put on a great offense to beat the Cardinals.
I agree with that. So far, the Astros have been a team that was inconsistent, but they aren’t that much of an outlier. Look at the team they face in the playoffs. If they can keep up this run for the rest of the season, I do not see them going far.
I will point out that
