Bella Hadid boasts about having 'no fashion'

Only famous people can complain about not being able to afford designer clothes.

That’s what Bella Hadid told Vogue UK, in an interview that’s making headlines in fashion circles.

Hadid was asked to comment on her controversial response to a report that she might be making the most money of her generation — earning somewhere in the neighborhood of $15 million a year — through her modeling career and her business pursuits. (Fashion firms are increasingly relying on new, young talent for their most popular wares. Models like Hadid and Karlie Kloss have ascended the ranks.)

When asked if she’s had an opinion on the different types of clothes she wears, Hadid told the magazine, “For me, it’s something I can’t afford.”

She added: “One of the things I love and have always loved is the ‘I don’t care’ attitude. (Laughing) I’m not a slave to fashion. I don’t own a single designer dress. I never will.”

That may be a blow to Vogue’s editors, but not to those who follow Hadid’s every move. That’s because the moment she said it, it spawned a series of memes, social media jokes and GIFs:

And not even in a ready-to-wear setting — complete with top model, pocketbook and space travel.
